Friday Seawatch (11/10/13)

Last Friday I joined Connor during a seawatch off Sheringham, the previous day had been brilliant with good numbers of skuas including long tailed and pom. Also leach's petrel & sooty shearwater where seen. However today was not like the previous day it was significantly poorer in comparison.

Totals from 4 hours sea watching:

40 Great Skua - Flocks 6 & 11 was good to see as I'm use to distant singles in Sussex
4 Arctic Skua - Single birds going through fairly early morning
2 Manx Shearwater - both birds between 9-10 very distant but nice to see
100 Gannet - At least was difficult to keep up with them
300 Brent Geese - going various directions, in various flocks
Numerous Ducks 600 - Mostly Teal, Pintail & Wigeon with a single loose flock of about 30 pochard
3 Shag - sitting on sea together
5 Little Gull - Close in mid morning

Probably other stuff but I can't remember!

Migrant wise a very elusive warbler by the barn gave us the run around for 45 minutes turned out it was a garden warbler. But due to the weather it was practically impossible to find passerines.
