Sunday (15/10/13) Very Windy day at Cley!

A CAWS (Conservation & Wildlife) trip today to Cley, very enjoyable some great birds but very cold and windy!

At the Cley reserve itself total birds:

100 Wigeon
100 Teal
50 Common Scoter
5 Little gull (Including 1 directly over head)
4 Dunlin
1 Snow Bunting
1 Marsh Harrier

We later visited Walsey to take shelter from the wind plenty of birds about in here:

40 Redwing
30 Curlew
4 Crossbills (Common)
3 Redpoll (Probably Lesser)
2 Goldcrest
1 Yellow Browed Warbler (Found by me and only heard by me, it flew over with a goldcrest and never called / showed afterwards)
1 (Male) Black Redstart (Flushed trying to find the YBW)
1 Sandwhich tern

The odd sighting of the day goes to the Sandwhich tern which was roosting in a field with black heads, it took flight and flew over head calling. Rather strange indeed!

Little Gull

Very lovely to see as always, Snow bunting

(Picture Taken by David, I wasn't quick enough!) Black Redstart

  1. Black redstart pic and comment reminds me of your wryneck misadventures - can we have a post on your obscured wryneck photos? :) it will make my day at least!
